Chinese New Year in London is the biggest celebration outside of Asia and the festivities continue with The Magical Lantern Festival. This year’s theme is the Silk Road and the magical lanterns plot a course from the Houses of Parliament through Africa, the Middle East, India and ending with a large replica of Admiral Zheng’s ship. There is also street food, an ice-rink and VR headsets in the gardens.

Paris may be the official city of love but London is a hotspot of romance on Valentine’s Day. There are a number of options, from Keats’ Love Poems to the Royal Observatory Greenwich’s stargazing evening and the National Maritime Museum’s ‘Seduction Late’ to fantastic restaurants. Shrove Tuesday, AKA Pancake Day, is a traditional feast day before the fasting period of Lent. Initially a perfect way to use up ingredients before lent, it is now a fun, food-based celebration. This annual fundraiser features teams of MPs, Lords and Journalists in competition, flipping pancakes in aide of the charity Rehab, helping the vulnerable and the mentally and physically disabled.
