London, Baby! Friends in the City

Though the group lived across the pond in Manhattan, they managed to find their way into British hearts through our TV screens. In celebration of Friends’ 20 year anniversary, we’ve created an itinerary based around the famous take-thee-Rachel episode – The One With Ross’s Wedding.

Start your trip by waking up at the Marriott London Grosvenor Square Hotel, where the gang stayed. The luxury five star hotels is a short walk from Oxford Street and Selfridges, and gives you the opportunity to dine in their on-site restaurant by Gordon Ramsay.

First stop, Westminster Abbey! The 700 year old building is open to the public Monday to Saturday, with worship services being held on Sundays. The spectacular architecture, the deep history and the well-known figures buried on site are likely to be the features that attracted Joey to Abbey. Don’t forget to take a photo in front of the door, but try to be a little more happy about it than Chandler was!

Hop on board an Original Tours open-top bus and be introduced to all the must-see London landmarks. Ride over Tower Bridge, pass iconic Trafalgar Square, and uncover facts about the city with a live tour guide. You can even hop on and off to see the sights up close, including Buckingham Palace. I’m afraid we cannot guarantee you will run in to Fergie.

Despite blurting out Rachel’s name, Ross wed Emily Waltham during the episode. Walthamstow can be found in North London and is home to the William Morris Gallery. Open Wednesday to Sunday, the museum is the only public gallery dedicated to the designer, craftsman and socialist, which is also the artist’s former family home.

Unfortunately, Central Perk doesn’t have a café in our capital city, but if you need a coffee break then we’d recommend paying a visit to Monmouth Coffee. Carefully sourcing their produce from specific farms and suppliers, Monmouth will create you a delicious cup of coffee and can even sell you the beans so you can recreate it yourself at home.
