Summer opening. The State Rooms are open this summer for just ten weeks, from July 21st to September 30th. An exhibition marking the 70th birthday of The Prince of Wales is included in this summer State Rooms opening. This is an opportunity not to be missed!
The visit.You’ll enjoy special timed entry to the Palace as well as receive an audio guide upon arrival so you can explore the lavish rooms at your own pace. The audio guide is available in nine languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese, and also in a family-friendly version.
Your visit begins with a look at the beautiful State vehicles in the Royal Mews. These recognisable vehicles are used for coronations, State visits, royal weddings and other official engagements. See the Gold State Coach, which has been used at every coronation from George IV onward.
The State Rooms. Members of the Royal family use the rooms you will see for State, ceremonial and official occasions and each of the 19 State Rooms is ornately decorated for these purposes. Discover the Picture Gallery and view some of the World’s greatest paintings in the Royal Collection. You’ll be dazzled by the beautiful ballroom and throne room before a walk through the idyllic south garden.
At the end of your visit you can enjoy a walk through the garden to the exit, with splendid views of the Palace and the famous lake.
Timed entry system. Buckingham Palace operates a timed entry system. Once booked, you will receive an email with your booking confirmation attached stating the date and time of your visit.
